Flexible Cup holder
The Flexible Cup Holder is a compact, reusable solution designed for everyday coffee lovers on the go.
Design
The model was designed in Shapr3D with a focus on flexibility, simplicity, and ergonomic comfort. The cup holder’s shape was created using a parametric approach, ensuring smooth curves and precise dimensions for a perfect fit around standard coffee cups.
Special attention was given to wall thickness, curvature, and joint flexibility, allowing the material to bend and stretch naturally without deformation. The design also includes subtle grip contours for better handling and a balanced feel when holding a hot drink.
3D Printing
The prototype was printed on the Bambu Lab A1, using TPU filament for its elasticity and heat resistance. The print settings were carefully calibrated to achieve smooth surface quality, consistent layer adhesion, and precise dimensional accuracy.
Printing was performed with a 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, and a moderate print speed to maintain flexibility without compromising strength. The result is a durable, reusable product with a matte finish and a professional appearance right out of the printer — requiring no post-processing.
Result
The Flexible Cup Holder is lightweight, reusable, and comfortable to hold, effectively insulating the user’s hand from hot drinks. Its minimal matte finish gives it a modern aesthetic, making it not only practical but also visually appealing. The overall result demonstrates how 3D design and modern prototyping can turn a simple idea into a functional everyday product.
